Britthaven Ministry
Visitation at Britthaven Nursing Home is the second Sunday of each month at 2:30 pm. We have a devotion and sing for the residents during these visits. Please contact us if you can play a musical instrument, sing or are able to give a short program or devotion. The presentations usually last about an hour and we need volunteers. Monthly News Highlights
The United Methodist Men will meet Saturday March 13th at 7:30 AM and the United Methodist Women will meet that same day at 10:30 AM. Folks that attend these meetings are asked to bring a donation for Mother Hubbard's Cupboard of rice, beans and/or sugar free cereal. The program for the UMW meeting will be a continuation of the study of the Book of Ruth. Following the UMW meeting, a Common Threads workshop will take place in the Parr Building. If you plan on attending this program please bring a bag lunch. Coffee, tea and water will be provided. New participants are cordially invited to participate in this event. Oleander has its own library located in the conference room. A notebook listing every book in the library and the check-out procedures is located on the top shelf of the bookcase and should be helpful in selecting a book of your choice. If you would be interested in serving on the United Christian Campus Ministry Board of Directors representing Oleander United Methodist church, please contact Rev. Linda Taylor. As a member of the board, you would attend monthly meetings held at Trinity Life Center on College road and would be a voting member at the Oleander Church Council Meetings. There will be a LENTEN WORSHIP SERVICE on Thursday March 25th at Pine Valley UMC. Our Pastor Linda Taylor will be the guest preacher and Holy Communion will be observed. March 28th is Noisy Sunday - please bring your loose change and donate it to our youth to help support their mission projects. There will be a special worship experience-"Bread of Life" - for Maundy Thursday. This service will be April 1 at 7:00 PM in the Parr Building. Bishop Gwinn will be visiting the Wilmington District on Friday April 9 from 2-3:30 PM. All laity are invited to be with him at Lake Waccamaw United Methodist Church.
Haiti Donation Information
The people of Haiti are in desperate need of earthquake relief help. There are several ways you can contribute: Make out a check to Oleander UMC and mark your check to indicate your preference for the use of the donation. To donate through the United Methodist Committee on relief (UMCOR), mark the memo line Advance #418325 (100% goes to Haiti Disaster Relief). To donate through NC Disaster Appeal, mark the memo line Advance #S00096 (100% will be used to assist in covering the shipping costs of health and food kits). To donate to the MERCI Mission Center, mark the memo line Advance Special #S00136 (this will be used to operate MERCI as a shipping and coordination point).
"A Cry For Help" Needs Your Help
"A Cry For Help Corp" (ACFHC) is
a mentoring program established in Wilmington, NC. Our specialty is
in the area of mentoring children ages 5-17. Our mission is to provide children in need with both
one-on-one and group mentoring. A positive role model will enlighten
a child and increase their social skills, creativity and intellect. Our vision is to provide relief to underprivileged youth who are at risk
in developing the skills they need to be productive in the
community.

"Common Threads" Ministry
"Common Threads" is a ministry developed to offer special care for the dying. Funds were received from the NC Annual Conference Mission Seed Funds. This ministry invites any and all who would like to join us in cutting, sewing and delivering "Butterfly" pillowcases to hospice and nursing care centers. This ministry is open to anyone in our District who has a passion for caring for the dying in this special way. For further information call: 762-0400 or 452-5033.
Prison Ministry Project
Reading glasses of all strengths are needed for a prison ministry project. Please bring old reading glasses that you no longer need to church and place them in the blue basket on the table in the hall.
Kate Frink Memorial Camper Scholarship Fund
Due to Kate's love of all children, a memorial scholarship has been established in her name. Please donate generously so we can ensure that any child wanting to attend a camp will have the opportunity to go. Contact Rev. Taylor for more info: 452-5033.
Oleander Scholarship Fund
Our Scholarship Committee announces an opportunity to give to the young people of our church by awarding funds to students to assist with books and other essentials to prepare them for their academic careers. We need your help to grow the funds so they will make a significant impact. Please consider making a donation. Make a check out to Oleander UMC and write "Oleander Scholarship Fund" on the memo portion of your check. Youth News
The Youth Ministry will meet every Wednesday at 6 pm. The Youth Meeting/Movie Night is every second Saturday from 5 - 7:30 pm. Movie night begins at 6 pm, bring family and friends and enjoy a fun movie. Popcorn, soda and candy available for purchase.
Mid-Week Lift Dinner, March 10 & 24
These fully prepared dinners will be served at 6:30 PM in the Parr Building and reservations are required. Donations are appreciated. You must call 452-5033 to make a reservation or you can locate a reservation form on the table in the hallway in the church. (Reservations are needed to insure that enough food is prepared).

- Yahweh Center Village For Children: Continuous collection of items for an organization that serves at-risk and hurting children aged 5-12 years. See list of needs in the kitchen or call Myrna Brasie, 792-1866.
- English As A Second Language: Mondays at 7 pm. Tutors needed. Call Rev. Taylor, 352-0504.
- Chair Exercise Class: Starting February 3, there will be a chair exercise class from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Cost is $20 for 4 weeks. Call: 452-5033 to register. All classes lead by a licensed personal trainer. After the exercise class, there will be a Bible Study Class using The Upper Room booklets. There is also a sign-up sheet in the Church hallway for both classes.
