Methodist Bishop Al Gwinn presents a dedicatory plaque naming the new 4000 square foot fellowship hall the Parr Building honoring Bill Parr a major benefactor of Oleander church.United Methodist Bishop Al Gwinn presided over a special service (June 28) as Oleander UMC was elevated to a "station" or independent, growing congregation.  The church was filled to overflowing with a record 150 worshipers who also celebrated the dedication of a new, 4000 square foot fellowship hall and welcomed former members to homecoming Sunday.Oleander quartet featured at the celebration of being promoted to a station church.Oleander UMC had the largest Vacation Bible School (July 6 - 10) with 29 community children who thanked the congregation for their support of the school by singing a praise song for the congregation on Sunday (July 12).Urging worshipers to be informal in dress, Pastor Linda Taylor donned a T-shirt and shorts for the first time in her career to preside over the "beach break" contemporary service.A total of 33 worshipers attended the inaugural Beach Break 8:30 am service (July 12) a contemporary worship with videos, praise music and informal dress.
